My stupid camera made this picture look so weird
I did a short hike today to Dog Lake in Big Cottonwood Canyon. The Mill D North Fork trail head starts about 9 miles up the canyon and leads to both Dog and Desolation Lakes, neither of which I would consider very “pretty” or scenic. The hike itself, however, is wonderful with great views of the surrounding peaks and a lot of thick vegetation. Today was overcast and a little drizzly most of the time, but it was a nice hike all the same.
This hike isn’t particularly difficult (2 miles one way, approx 1500 ft in eleveation gain), so it’s good for days when there isn’t a lot of time.

Looking back

A small creek runs along a lot of the trail

Dog Lake as it begins to rain. For some reason I think Dog Lake is much prettier when it's overcast and gloomy.

The views heading back toward the canyon are beautiful
